FÄWKINNAE, The Billy Goat Tavern and the Chicago Cubs

Well you might be wondering, what does the Chicago Cubs baseball team, the World Series, the Billy Goat Tavern and The Fäwkinnae Sportsman’s Club have to do with each other. Well I’m glad you asked. First of all it’s World Series time and the Cubs are in it (first time since 1945). Interesting thing about 1945, that’s the year the Curse of the Billy Goat was laid on the Cubs when the Cub’s owner, P.K.Wrigley, ejected Billy Sianis and his goat from game four of the 1945 World Series. The Fäwkinnae Tip Jar

The Minnesota fishing opener found me on beautiful Lake Vermilion this year. Unfortunately the weather didn’t exactly cooperate and seemed better suited for x-country skiing or snowmobiling. On Sunday afternoon we went to The Vermilion Club for dinner and I had a few bumperstickers with me (my chief ambition in life has become putting a Fawkinnae bumpersticker in every bar in North America—I still have a ways to go). A Dirty Rotten Fäwkinnae Bumpersticker Story

  I was recently a vendor at the Dirty Rotten Bikerfest—and what a great time we had. Toward evening as it was starting to get dark, a couple came up and bought a few things, a “Fawkinnae Let’s Have a Beer!” t-shirt for her son and a women’s “Fawkinnae Let’s Ride” pink hoodie for her—for Mother’s Day. We had a great time talking and they mentioned that one of their friends had one of my bumperstickers. I asked where he had gotten it thinking I had probably met him at the Eelpout Festival or maybe the Chili Feed, two of my favorite events.
